The UMF Honey Association oversees all use of the UMF® trademark and supports licensees and consumers through a number of programmes and activities.
As a UMF license holder, we must submit samples of every batch of honey for lab testing. We can only pack our Manuka Honey once we have received a UMF® certificate for that particular batch. Click here to view the UMF® certificate for your jar of honey.
The UMFHA appoint independent auditors to regularly check and analyse samples from the marketplace. This helps protect consumers from counterfeit products.
INTERNATIONAL STANDARDISED TESTING
The UMFHA have a programme of standardised testing in place across all territories where UMF®Manuka Honey products are sold.
They continue to invest heavily in industry leading scientific research of Manuka Honey, as a way of future-proofing the industry.
THE UMF® GRADING SYSTEM
This represents the unique signature compounds characteristic of this honey which ensure purity and quality. These include: the key markers of Leptosperin, DHA and Methylglyoxal. An easy way to look at it is, the higher the UMF® grade, the more concentrated these compounds will be. Click here for more information on each UMF® grade.
To use the UMF® trademark a licensed company must meet strict criteria set out by the UMFHA.
